Swig Free Drink: Every Real Way to Get One

The only free-drink route Swig confirms all year round is its app: you earn points with every purchase and turn them into free drinks. On top of that, Swig has run one-off giveaways, such as Free Swig For A Year (most recently January 5–24, 2026) and a free-drink day for the Swig Energy launch on August 22, 2026. Birthday and sign-up drinks are widely reported online, but Swig's own website doesn't mention them. We read Swig's pages on October 17, 2026, and priced every drink at 178 stores on October 15.

Swig Rewards: how points turn into free drinks

Swig's FAQ is short on detail. Under "How do I start earning rewards?" it says to "download our app to start earning free drinks", and that once you create an account "you can start earning points with every purchase". The app's App Store listing, published by FFG Soda Shop Stores, LLC, adds that the app tracks "loyalty, gift cards" and brings "special app-only offers".

1. Download the Swig app (iPhone or Android) and create an account.
2. Make sure each purchase is linked to your account. Ordering in the app does this; at the window, app users usually scan the app when they pay. Swig's FAQ doesn't spell out the steps.
3. Check the rewards screen in the app for your points and the free drinks you can redeem.

Swig doesn't publish how many points you earn per dollar or how many a free drink costs, so we can't give a reliable number. Any figure you see online should come from the app itself. Swig's store list showed rewards switched on at 177 of its 183 stores on October 15, 2026; the other six had no rewards setting yet. It also showed online ordering switched off at 10 stores, so ordering in the app may not work everywhere.

Is there a Swig birthday drink?

Fan sites say members who save their birthday in the app get a free drink or treat in their birthday month. Swig's website, FAQ and App Store listing don't mention a birthday reward, so treat it as unconfirmed. If you want to try, add your birth date to your app profile well before your birthday and check the rewards screen that month.

Free Swig For A Year (January)

Free Swig For A Year is Swig's biggest giveaway. In 2026 it ran for three weeks of Instagram games, each with its own official rules on swig.com:

• Swig Clue, January 5–10: a new puzzle each day; "each puzzle solved = 1 entry" for the Gold Tumbler draw. Swig's rules said the first 2,000 people to solve "the bonus round" would get a free Swig drink or treat.
• Swig Roulette, January 12–17: games of chance played along on Instagram.
• Swig Mystery, January 19–24: collectible mystery items, a few of them gold. Finding a gold one won a Gold Tumbler on the spot.

Swig's Free Swig For A Year page set the prize as "one free 44 oz refill per day, subject to store operating days and hours". No purchase was necessary, and the giveaway excluded Rhode Island and New York. A plain 44 oz soda costs $2.99 at the middle-priced store, so a full year of daily plain refills would be worth up to about $1,090. Swig's page doesn't say whether the refill includes flavors or cream.

If Swig runs it again in 2027, the games would likely be announced by @swigdrinks on Instagram, as they were in 2026. We'll update this page when Swig announces anything.

Free drink days and grand openings

Swig has offered a free drink at every store for a day. For Saturday, August 22, 2026, Swig offered a free 16 oz drink from the new Swig Energy menu at any Swig from open to close, ABC4 reported the day before (Abigail Jones, August 21, 2026). Each person had to be there in person. Extra drinks, larger sizes and some modifications cost extra.

New stores are worth watching, though we haven't confirmed a free drink at any particular opening. Swig's store list showed two recent examples of special opening hours: a grand opening on October 2, 2026 at Orlando Collegiate Way, FL (10 AM–7 PM), and soft-open hours at Jonesboro Red Wolf Boulevard, AR, from September 29 to October 3. Both have now passed. For any offers at an opening, check that store's local news or Swig's social posts. New stores appear on our Swig locations page.

What a free Swig drink is worth

A free drink is worth more if you pick a pricier one. Here's what each kind of free drink is worth at the middle-priced store, October 15, 2026:

If a promo lets you choose any drink of a set size, a creamy Refresher or the seasonal drink gets you the most value. For the price of every drink at every size, see the full Swig menu with prices. For the most expensive builds, see the Swig secret menu.
